Family Resource Center’s 2011 Holiday Gift Drive
Thanks to the support of so many generous donors, we were able to collect and distribute holiday gifts to close to 700 children this holiday season! Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s drive!
H.E.L.P. Miami’s Holiday Party for Foster Children
H.E.L.P Miami once again hosted a wonderful holiday party at Devon Aire Park, with a Bounce House and other fun activities, as well as holiday gifts for the 30 foster children in attendance.
National Adoption Day 2011
Family Resource Center finalized 8 adoptions at the National Adoption Day event hosted by Our Kids on November 18, 2011. The event took place at the Miami Children’s Museum.
2011 Children’s Hero Award Gala
On October 19, 2011 at the Conrad Hotel, with close to 200 people in attendance, Family Resource Center recognized Miami-Dade College President Dr. Eduardo Padrón with the Children’s Hero Award for his commitment to bridging the educational gap for children aging out of the foster care system. Established in 2009, the Children’s Hero Award honors a community leader who has shown incredible foresight and leadership in providing services and access to those youth who have suffered child abuse and neglect in Miami-Dade.
15th Annual Strike Against Child Abuse Bowling Tournament
Supporters gathered at Bird Bowl in Miami on Saturday, June 11, 2011 to raise funds for Family Resource Center programs aimed at treating and preventing child abuse and neglect. Over 200 people attended the event and had the opportunity to compete in the bowling tournament, win great raffle prizes, and bid on items at the silent auction.
Family Resource Center‘s 2011 Toast to Awareness Wine Tasting
Family Resource Center hosted its Toast to Awareness Wine Tasting event at Flemings Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Coral Gables on Friday, June 3rd. Those in attendance enjoyed a selection of red and white wines and delicious hors d’ouevres. All proceeds went toward the purchase of school supplies for kids in foster care for the upcoming year.
Family Resource Center‘s 2011 Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner
On Friday, May 20th, the Family Resource Center hosted its first Foster Parent Banquet in honor of our unsung heroes. Attendees posed for formal photos, enjoyed fine dining, and danced the night away at the Renaissance Ballrooms in Miami.

On Dec. 20,2010 Udonis Haslem from the Miami Heat and his foundation hosted a picnic and gift distribution for all the foster children who are in care with FRC .
Alums of Florida State along with several other rival colleges came out to support Family Resource Center’s teens in foster care. Money raised goes towards “A Night on the Town” for teens this holiday.
Family Resource Center showcased artwork of recently adopted children on the theme of “What My New Family Means to Me”. The VIP opening on November 30, 2010 brought out the child artists and art aficionados!
It’s Scary to be in Foster Care
On Oct. 26, 2010, BNI Miami-Dade co-hosted a Halloween event to raise funds for Family Resource Center’s work with children in the foster care system.
Udonis Haslem Children’s Foundation Fundraiser
Family Resource Center attended “Denim & Diamonds” on September 25, 2010 to support one or our community partners, the Udonis Haslem Children’s Foundation.
On Saturday September 25th, Family Resource Center hosted its Fifth Annual Foster Parent Appreciation Picnic at Tropical Park. The event was attended by more than 100 foster parents and children. They all enjoyed the day feasting on delicious food and playing games. Everyone who attended had a great day!
On Saturday, August 14, 2010, Artist Ed King teamed up with Family Resource Center, Cool-de-sac and School Stuff Plus foran interactive art day and backpack drive. All the money raised from the event went to help Family Resource Center of South Florida provide school supplies to children in need.
On August 13, 2010 Walmart presented Family Resource Center a $15,000 check to support our back to school drive. Representative David Rivera, the sponsor of the tax free shopping weekend, was on hand to greet the families.
